Thermo Fisher Scientific technology used in Symyx Notebook

Thermo Fisher Scientific has contributed laboratory information technology for integration into science firm Symyx's Notebook system.

The Symyx Notebook now features Thermo Scientific's Atlas chromatography data system, which will allow users to monitor gas chromatography experiments in a more efficient and comprehensive way.

Dave Champagne, vice-president and general manager of informatics at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said the LIMS-CDS-ELN functionality provided by the Notebook represents a "truly integrated solution".

He added: "This enables both an efficient laboratory process and the flow of information from the laboratory to the rest of the organisation, allowing management to have the information they need."

The Symyx system also supports data management technology provided by firms such as Agilent and Waters.

Last month, Thermo Fisher Scientific agreed to supply scientific equipment to the Scottish Metabolomics Facility to aid its research into disease.
